What to do in the event of a COVID-19 outbreak in your workplace

Businesses in Coventry and Warwickshire are being urged to make sure they stay informed on the latest Government Guidance on Coronavirus – after staff tested positive at a city supermarket.

The Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce, the Coventry and Warwickshire LEP, the CWLEP Growth Hub and the FSB are all urging companies to continue operating safely in a Covid secure workplace by regularly checking the evolving advice.

And, should there be two or more suspected or confirmed cases in the workplace, companies in the region should inform Public Health England and Coventry City Council or Warwickshire County Council depending on their location.

Louise Bennett, chief executive of the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce, said: “Businesses have made an incredible effort to get back to the workplace by following the Government guidance and making their working environments Covid secure.

“Everyone has seen the headlines over recent days and it should act as a reminder of what needs to be done.”

Craig Humphrey, managing director of the CWLEP Growth Hub, said: “The guidance from Government is different for each sector so it is advisable to keep checking the information for your particular sector as it does evolve over time.

“And should your business see a suspected or confirmed outbreak it’s vital to let the relevant authorities know immediately.”

If there is a suspected or confirmed outbreak of two or more cases in the workplace, companies should inform Public Health England on 0344 225 3560 (Select option 0, then option 2) and Coventry City Council at covid19testing@coventry.gov.uk or Warwickshire County Council at dphadmin@warwickshire.gov.uk
